What is an item Activity Profile in Warehousing?

warehouse Item activity profile is used to designate each item in the warehouse, it is used in:
  • Storage
  • Space allocation determined by each category
  • Deciding where to store the products
There are different activity distributions in the item activity profile, which are:
  • Popularity distribution - Popularity distribution is arranged so the most popular items take up the majority of the picking activity.
  • Item-order distribution - Item order completion distribution allows the identification of smaller groups of products that can be used to fill larger groups of orders. Smaller groups of items can be sent to the small order completion zones which is where processing rates, productivity and processing quality are more efficient compared with the general warehouse. The items are ranked depending on their popularity, so the most popular items come first and the least come last.
