Tips for a Flawless Global Supply Chain – Trucking Part Two

Today we’re continuing to focus on our trucking tips and how to set up your systems to improve your overall global supply chain. Please remember to check back to yesterday’s post if you missed it!
  1. Claims reporting are something you need to be aware of before you start shipping. If you don’t know the procedures make sure you familiarise yourself with them and ask your carriers to provide you with a monthly claims report.
  2. What are your carriers auditing process? The auditing of the invoice needs to be ongoing to ensure there are no discrepancies regarding the contracted prices. Are the invoices full of the data you need and are the weights and classifications correct?
  3. The trailers being used should be kept in good condition, always demand excellent equipment maintenance to reduce the claims risks.
  4. Check the transit times when you’re looking for a regional carrier. Compare the times and the service maps to evaluate how many shipments they’re able to deliver using different service options such as same day and next day delivery.
  5. Another factor to consider is the level of customer service provided by the carrier. Customer services should be a priority. Check the different ways you’re able to contact the customer service team and see if the team is fully qualified to provide you with excellent assistance.
  6. Use real time technology and real time data. Use only carriers who have this technology so they’re able to provide you accurate and immediate shipment notifications. The technology needs to be included throughout the entire processes, from the dock to the drop off for each shipment.
